Justino, a 45-year-old Indian native, is a security guard at the Manaus harbor, an industrial city surrounded by the Amazon rainforest. Since his wife’s death, he lives in a modest house on the outskirts with his daughter. When his daughter leaves to study medicine, Justino is taken over by a bad fever, and a mysterious creature follows in his footsteps. Between the oppression of the city and the distance from his forest village, for which he is nostalgic, Justino can no longer stand a placeless existence..

There is a kind of ‘black hole’ in biography of famous Hollywood director, Nicholas Ray, something between 1963 and 1967. After two consecutive flops in career, he left his wife and daughter, and he came to Belgrade. Genius director, he has been also communist and drug addict. At the time he was working on the project Dr and the Devils’ based on the novel by Dylan Thomas. In the same time Ray is chased by many and they even hired a private detective. Back in Serbia, Ray is praised and protected, with obvious instructions by president Tito himself. But then troubles in Paradise have started..

It was Ute Aurand who brought me to Berlin in the late 1990s, and I now share a studio with her in Wilmersdorf. Ute premiered an 82 min. feature, Rushing green with horses, in the Forum Expanded of the Berinale earlier this year. (Robert Beavers)

Rushing Green with Horses is a collection of brief moments, filmed between 1999 and 2018 on journeys, at home, with friends and alone. [...] We see the same people at various ages, as a child, as a teenager, as a young woman… sometimes hear someone speaking, hear music, or silence. Somewhere in the middle of the film there is a handwritten sentence that appears upside down before it gets turned around: “A child asleep in its own life”. (Ute Aurand)

Once more, Pedro Costa gives voice and image to the wretched and invisible of this society, in a dark and nightmarish Lisbon.

The story, focuses on Cristian, a young paediatric surgeon working in a large hospital in Bucharest. He is devastated when one of his young patients suddenly dies after undergoing surgery for a simple hernia. Sure that none of his actions were responsible for the child’s death, Cristian soon finds the culprit: the faulty biocides being used in the hospital. Soon, Cristian will see himself fighting against an entire system of corrupt doctors, indifferent hospital managers and government officials.
