Vitalina Varela, a woman from Cape Verde, arrives to Lisbon three days after her husband’s death, who had migrated to Portugal and she hasn’t seen him for over 25 years. What is left for her is pieces of a life, the memories of their future projects and the thwarted expectations of family reunification. Once more, Pedro Costa gives voice and image to the wretched and invisible of this society, in a dark and nightmarish Lisbon.
