In his first documentary, De Oliveira draws images from the daily labor at the banks of river Douro, as it flows though the city of Oporto. The circulation of the boats, the bridge, the machinery and the neighborhoods alongshore, in which the people of labor live and work, are composed in the rythmics and poetics of the city. In his debut, Oliveira is conversation with Ruttmann’s Berlin: Symphony of a City (1927).
