Μυθοπλασία/Fiction, Ελλάδα/Greece, 1966, 116 ́ 35mm, α/μ/b&w, Mε ήχο/Sound
Fear, first shown in Berlin in 1966, but later forgotten, had a second life only in the 1980s and 1990s, when it was repeatedly shown in private television networks. According to Syllas Tzoumerkas, whose films owe a huge debt to Fear, “it was then that the film built its legend; when it had, for the first time, an impact [on...] a new generation of Greek cinema”. Anyone who sees this story of suffocation, hidden-in-the-family crime, and bodies being out of control while kinship is being reiterated and celebrated, can understand exactly why.
